We had the girls dedicated at church on Mother's Day. It was awesome to be able to commit before God and our church family that we are going to strive to train up the girls to love and follow God.
Now, the actually "ceremony" itself was a bit of a challenge. Our church has two services so you go through the dedication twice, so that the entire church body has a chance to see it. We only made it through one service...barely. It is about a 10-15 minute long ceremony (felt like 4 hours) and as you can see from the picture, neither Madison nor Makenzie was thrilled about being held for that long. Makenzie was so loud and wiggly the entire time. At one point I put her down thinking she would run to where my mom was sitting, instead she ran and grabbed the microphone that was sitting on the front pew. The only time I could get her to be quiet and still was when she was blowing kisses to the baby next to us (who pooped so loudly during the dedication that the people in the 2nd row of pews could hear it). And I couldn't spank her or scold her because it was Mother's Day and we are up in front of the entire congregation. All I could do is hold my naughty, loud, disobedient little toddler while 100's of people looked on. I suppose we will be getting some extra prayers sent our way, so that is a blessing. Kenzie and I actually had to leave during the middle of the dedication because she was so disruptive. This is perhaps part of the reason children aren't typically dedicated at 21 months of age. Needless to say, we didn't even attempt staying for the second service.
